Santa Rosa U9 boys AC Milan finish as NorCal State Cup Runner up at Manteca this weekend.  Our boys end the season ranked number 2 in Norcal and appear in the first boys NorCal State Championship Final in years for SRU.  They advanced to the final game on Saturday by beating the Juventus Jaguars 3-2, and lost in the championship final to Willow SC 0-4.  Overall for the year, the boys finished with 30 wins, 12 losses, 5 draws and an overall positive goal differential of +86.  They complete the year with an impressive resume as Cal Cup Champions, Novato Classic Champions, Boofest Champions, Runners up at SRV Cup, and finally Runners up at the State Cup.  The boys played with huge hearts today and we are very proud of them.  Pictured as they receive the State Cup Runners up trophy are:  front row: Alija Hunter, Rohan Crossland, Cole Robertson, Cuahtemoc Ortiz.  Standing row:  Coach Jon Schwan, Zack Batchelder, Lucas May, Max Goeggel, Kevin Welch, Nathan Rodriguez.  Not pictured are James Van Milligen, Chase Sechrist.  Congratulations again on a great state cup and a great season.

Barcelona, Santa Rosa United’s U14 Boys, came away with an inspiring victory in the Stanford Spring Classic Cup on Feb. 27 and 28. They emerged from bracket play with 2 wins and 1 loss, only to meet the team that had defeated them in the tournament final. With the score 0-0 through most of the championship contest, against a well-matched team from Palo Alto, Barca went ahead 1-0 with 7 minutes remaining. Palo Alto pressed hard but Barca held firm, and secured the victory. Congratulations boys!

The '92 Gold Boys "Boca Juniors" team won the prestigious Presidents Day tournament in Phoenix in the U-19 age group this past weekend, outlasting the competition in six games over three days of play.  With the help of four players from SR United's U-17 Celtics, the Bocas came away undefeated.  Both the quarter final and semi-final games went to PK's.  Along the way to the championship, the Bocas beat the New Mexico State Champions and the Arizona State Champions.  Dave Schaffer coached the team, Darrin Spann is manager.  Great work, boys!

Santa Rosa United Academy teams (U8-U10) had unprecedented success in their NorCal State Cup competitions.  Five Academy teams made it to the NorCal State Cup Championship game, winning four titles and placing second in a fifth.
