This week Santa Rosa United hired Carl Edwards as its Technical Director, to assist Steve Rammel, the club’s Executive Director. Mr. Edwards was chosen after a month long search to fill the position.
Steve Rammel’s comments on the identification and selection process of this key position follow:
“After meeting with over 30 parent groups to listen and learn about the club’s needs moving forward, it was apparent that the parents wanted more for their kids. They wanted someone from the club to be with the players in a full-time position. In one of the coaches’ meetings I discussed the need to bring in someone qualified to help with the day-to-day development of our players. The coaches requested that I look for someone who had experienced success in a youth soccer club environment, who is bilingual, possessing the ‘A’ license, with a playing background that includes the college experience. I believe we achieved the goals of our coaches and our parents by bringing Carl in to work with SRU.”
Carl Edwards has won two State championships with DVSC in ’01 and ’02. While at DVSC, he was also a Regional semi-finalist in ’02. He currently coaches with the Danville Mustang where he was a Regional champion in ’06. He has had over 10 years of club coaching experience, both in California and in

Sonoma
State followed by a season in the USISL with the Sacramento Scorpions. He later went to
Holland to play two seasons with VUC and Quick.
