Pending High School Season Change
Steve Rammel - 10.25.07
Recently there has been much discussion regarding the possible decision to change the High School soccer season from fall to winter. I have received emails and calls from people inside and outside of the club regarding this issue asking for my opinion, and more importantly, United’s thoughts. Soccer continues to grow in our country and this means we are always dealing with changes. With this new idea from the high school, we will monitor the process and make the decisions that are best for the players and soccer in our area, but as always, we will move forward in a positive and successful manner.

Dear United Community
10.15.2007
I hope this letter finds everyone doing well, with the younger players nearing the end of the fall season and the older players getting ready to come back after the high school season. During the fall, I wanted to get out and support our older players, so I watched some high school games. I am new to the area, but it is amazing to go out and see so many United players from freshman to seniors making up a large part of their successful teams. It is as if there is a separate United league in the fall. Great job players!

Executive Director Update August 2007
August Thoughts
It is now the middle of September and over the last month and a half I have seen most of our teams play in games at least once.  Also, I have had the opportunity to see most of our teams practice multiple times.  During this time a lot of our teams have experienced some good success in tournaments and Super Y league.  Though many of our younger teams have experienced good results at tournaments, they are achieving these successes the correct way.  They are not playing kick-ball. They are not out there at a ‘win at all cost’ mentality.  Most of the younger coaches and teams are focused on the technical aspects of the game which is important for the players’ development and team’s development.

Off the field, some good things are happening.  First, later this month the all purpose fields will be completed.

Executive Director Update July 2007

Santa Rosa United and Community

I wanted to let everyone know that the month of July will be a busy time for me. I am sure that a lot of you are having the same July. I want to let everyone know that if you are trying to reach me, my response time may take a bit. Please be patient. If it is something urgent, please go to your coach or manger first. I will be at a wedding for four days, ODP Regional camp for six days, on the field for two weeks of camp, and trying to help one of our teams win a National title in North Carolina . In addition, you will not see me at practice or events that much during July. I am sure some will miss me and others will not. Have a good July!

Thank you,

Steve Rammel

Belluzzo Field Update

Santa Rosa United and Community

As we finish up our time at Belluzzo fields and move to our new home at Trione, I wanted to email a quick reminder. This year we are in a drought year and the county is asking everyone to cut back on water usage by 15%. This decision affects all natural grass fields. This means that Belluzzo is getting worn down. Some have asked me to put water on Belluzzo and make it better. One person has offered to make it a little better out of their company’s pocket. At this time, I believe our energy, resources, and time can be better spent on the future and in better places. I hope everyone understands and supports why I am doing it. I know the field and its condition. I am out there everyday with teams and, in some cases, running a training session. I see how the ball bounces and how are it is. I am asking everyone to continue to work hard and appreciate that we have a field to train on while our new fields near completion. I am also asking everyone to appreciate what Belluzzo has meant for SRU and community over the years. Keep up the good work and I will see everyone at practice or game over the coming weeks.

Executive Director Steve Rammel Update
Last Week’s Tournaments and State Cup
I want to take this time to congratulate the teams that played in last week’s tournaments. I had a chance to work with five of them and coach two of them at the Las Vegas College Showcase. I really appreciated how open the teams were to me coaching them. It says a lot about the players and parents that they can respect
