Aug. 21st vs Central Marin-Tremors win 9-0 over Central Marin. Tremors started slow but their passing caught up and they worked hard in the second half connecting on passes and on shots on goal for the victory.

TREMORS IN SAN DIEGO SURF CUP 2010 7/25/10

The Santa Rosa United Tremors had a great weekend in San Diego playing some tough competition. They started out the weekend with a

1-0 loss to a very good LAFC. The second day the Tremors played against Las Vegas Surf and they came out to play that game with goals by

J. Girman, A. Shields and M. Sullivan. Great defense came from L. McMahon, L. Hordyk, B. Van Giessen, N. Hakel, C. Hillegas and B. Becerra. M. Klee

played a great game in goal and the pressure was put on by G. Albavera, E. Wright, K. Roy, K. Gonzalez. The third game had the Tremors

against a great team in Arsenal. Tremors came out strong and played hard but Arsenal had a tough defense. The Tremor defense

was also strong and the game ended in a 0-0 tie. The Tremors didn’t move on in their bracket to the semi’s but they played 3 great games

while giving up only 2 goals for the weekend. Great job Tremors!! 

6/25-27/10 CAL CUP

The Tremors came into this years CAL CUP ready for some action and to make up for last year’s showing. The first game was against Santa Clara Sporting White. After a lackluster 1st half the Tremors were up 2-1. 2nd half the Tremors started the engine rolling with a slew of goals. The midfield was strong, the forwards were fast and the defense was solid, oh yes and the goalkeeping was great. At the end of the match the game was 9-1 Tremors.

2nd game was against San Juan Spirit Blue and the Tremors started the game like the left off the previous game...with pinpoint accuracy passing and shots on goal. The defense stymied any attempt by the San Juan team and at the end of the game the score was 9-0 Tremors.

The 3rd game had the Tremors up against Ajax United Premier and once again the Tremors strategy was flawless. They passed well, they defended well and they had great unselfish play. The final score was 9-0.

The semifinal match was against a very tough Santa Clara Sporting Green team that came out to play. With the weather over 100 degrees both teams needed much hydration as the day went on and the Tremors were still sizzlin from the previous match. For the Tremors the goals came from A. Shields, G. Albavera and K. Gonzalez. Defensivley N. Hakel, B. Van Giessen, L. Hordyk, L. McMahon played BIG...in Goal M. Klee made some great saves and B. Becerra, M. Sullivan and C. Hillegas did a great job in making sure that the Sporting didn’t score. Final Score Tremors 3 SC Sporting 0.

The finals had the Tremors up against the AJAX Elite. The sun was hot and the girls were tired but the energy of being in a Finals pushed them and motivated them to work hard as B. Becerra and K. Gonzalez  did all the scoring that was needed as the Tremors became Champions with a final score of 5-0.

Overall it was a great weekend for the Tremors as they went 5-0 to win the championship while scoring 35 goals and giving up only 1 goal. That is a team effort. Great job girls. Also a great job done by coach Martin Perez.

6/13/10 PLAY DATE #4

Tremors came into the playdate riding a pretty good winning streak and they met up with some talented rivals. First up was Diablo FC Sting...A. Shields started the scoring and the Tremors didn’t look back winning the first game 3-0. The second game was against another tough team Crossfire Red. This game had a little bit of offense spread around as A. Shields, K. Gonzalez and G. Albavera all scored to finish the game 3-0. In the final game of the day the Tremors played the very strong Rays team...and just like the last time they met the Rays came out scoring the first goal. The Tremors tied it up and went ahead and right before the end of the match the Rays tied it up to end the game 3-3. It was a  very well played game by both teams and they left it all on the field.

6/3/10 vs SCA N

The setting was Windsor’s Wilson Ranch fields and the Tremors didn’t know what to expect. SCAN came out from the opening kick off and put goals in the net. At halftime Coach Martin had to have some great words of wisdom because the Tremors were losing...sure enough midway thru the 2nd half the Tremors started clicking and ran off a string of 3 straight goals to take the lead ane eventually win a 5-4 thriller.

3/27/20 vs Pibas

The Pibas came to play on this day and they showed what they were made up with some tough defense and strong midfield play. The Tremors broke through with the first goal of the match by Jordan Girman. Then Gabby Albavera broke through the stiffling defense and scored the second goal of the match. Keely Roy then took a great pass and scored the final tally to make the final score 3-0. The Pibas had some scoring opportunities but the Tremors defense was too tough. The combination of Leanna McMahon, Lindsey Hordyk, Nicole Hakel and Candace Hillegas stuffed all the Pibas opportunities. The midfield was controlled again by Alyiah Shields, Jordan Girman and Kitana Gonzalez as they distributed the ball beautifully to the front line. Brianna Van Giessen, Megan Sullivan and Ella Wright had some great opportunities on goal and of course you can’t forget the play of Megan Klee in goal. Overall it was a great 1st game for the Tremors.

4/10/10 vs SCA Red

SCA South came to visit and they were prepared for a great game. The SCA defense was tough to penetrate but halfway through the first half Alyiah Shields hit the back of the net with the 1st goal of the match. SCA had a few opportunities but once again the Tremors defense came up big. The second half was similar to the first with tough defense from both sides. But a foul led to the next goal for the Tremors as Alyiah Shields hit the back of the net for a second time with a free kick from 20yds out for the final score of 2-0. SCA was a dificult match up for the Tremors because of the defensive line which stopped many chances that the Tremors had created.

4/17/10 vs SCA 99N

SCA N came to Trione with one thing in mind...play the Tremors tough and for the first few minutes of the 1st half they did just that. Then Jordan Girman broke through the defense and had the first score of the match. That seemed to take a bit of the wind from SCAN but they continued to play with heart. Kitana Gonzalez had two scores in the match and Alyiah Shields finished the scoring with a goal of her own. Once again the defense and midfield controlled the ball. The Tremors passed the ball well and the team complimented each other. Final score Tremors 4 SCAN 0.

4/18/10 Playdate #1

TREMORS VS SCA 00N

It was a beautiful day in Santa Rosa and the Tremors started off the Playdate with a match agains the girls of SCAN. Fans had not began to settle in their seats when Kitana Gonzalez broke through the defense and within the first 20 seconds it was Tremors 1 SCAN 0. But the girls from SCAN didn’t collapse....halfway thru the 1st half a great pass in front of the Tremors net hit the feet of the SCAN striker and she didn’t miss. The first half ended 1-1. Coach Perez must have had a great halftime speech because the girls came out burnin...at the end of the match Gabby Albavera had two goals and Jordan Girman added another score. The girls passed well and the defense clamped down on any SCAN scoring attempt. The final score was Tremors 5 SCAN 1.

TREMORS VS LIVERMORE

The Tremors came out tough vs Livermore....the goals came early and often. Gabby Albavera, Jordan Girman, Lindsey Hordyk and Alyiah Shields all had goals in this game and the defense was tough once again led by Brianna Van Giessen, Nicole Hakel and Lindsey Hordyk. Megan Klee had another great game as she stopped any and all opportunities that the Livermore team attempted.

TREMORS VS RAYS 99G

The final game of the Playdate was with a very talented Ray team. The Rays struck first with a break away goal from the RAY forward. The Tremors didn’t crumble as they came back with a goal of their own as Lindsey Hordyk cut through the midfield and the defense like a hot knife thru butter and put one into the back of the net. Then the RAYS struck again with a great play from one of their star players which gave the RAYS a 2-1 lead. The second half sawthe RAY coach put one of their star strikers on defense to help protect the lead and for much of the second half it looked like a great plan then as Kitana Gonzalez was speeding to get the ball the RAY goalie made a mistake as she took out Kitana in the box and she was called for a penalty. Jordan Girman put the penalty in for the final score of the match 2-2. Both teams played high quality soccer and both coaches should be congratulated for their efforts.

5/1/10 vs Central Marin

The Tremors played a very good Central Marin team. The scoring began early with a 2 scores from M. Sullivan then the Central Marin team clamped down on defense. The Tremor defense also played well as they stymied the Central Marin offense. It wasn’t until the second half that the Tremors found the back of the net again from a strike that came off the foot of A. Shields. The final score was Tremors 3 Central Marin 0.

The setting was perfect and so was the weather as the SRU Tremors went up against the Manteca Newcastle team. Both teams had met twice before and each team had a win so this was the rubber match for the series. This game went back and forth but in the end the Manteca team prevailed with a 4-2 win capturing the NOR CAL Championship. For the Tremors it was a bitter loss but their accomplishments this season are impressive. Their overall record was 49 wins-6 losses-10 ties and in their own age group...which is U-11 their record was an impressive

36 wins -3 losses- 5 ties. GREAT JOB TREMORS

 

1/30/11

SRU Tremors continue to turn friends and foes into believers reaching the NorCal State Cup finals for the second year in a row. The team, ranked 7^th in the nation by WWW.NationalSoccerRanking.com as of January 30, 2011 reached the coveted spot by beating last year’s champions Elk Grove Everton 2-0 on Saturday and then Diablo FC 2-1 on Sunday.  

 

The team will now play Manteca FC Newcastle in the finals of the State Cup Division in what should be an exciting final that will crown the best team in the state for Under 11 Girls.

1/29/11

The Santa Rosa United Tremors started their trip to the Nor Cal play offs at the end of last season’s bitter defeat to a great Elk Grove Everton team. The Tremors worked hard to try to get back to the finals and so far their trip to the finals has had some great games. The Prelims started off in November with a 5-0 win over a very talented SCA North team. Then came a tough game in January vs DeAnza that ended up 2-1 in favor of the Tremors. The next day saw another tough team....the San Francisco Seals and they too gave the Tremors a great challenge but came up short as the Tremors won that game 6-0 which gave the Tremors a berth into the top 8 Nor Cal State teams bracket.

On a Saturday morning Quarterfinal game with their Rivals, Elk Grove Everton, The Tremors stepped up their game and pulled out a squeeker 2-0. Elk Grove matched up well but the Tremors found a way to pull out a victory. Tomorrow the Tremors go up against a solid Diablo FC team. Until then....GO TREMORS!!

 

 

 

 

 

 

10/29/10 ELITE 8 CUP in Manteca Ca.

The SRU Tremors, coached by Martin Perez, continue their tremendous success in 2010 by being crowned 2010 Elite 8 Champions.  They started the tournament by beating a strong Jr. Pumas team 3-0 and then defeating NBFC Barcelona 4-0 on Saturday.  On Sunday, when playing well matters most, they started the day by beating their nemesis, and winner of the previous Nor Cal State Cup, Elk Grove Everton, by a score of 2-0. 

The 3 wins earned them the opportunity to play against nationally ranked MFC Newcastle, which had given them up to that point their only loss of the 2010 season in 8 vs. 8 competitions in the Semifinals of the prestigious 2010 Mustang Stamped, winning the affair 3-2 to win the Championship.

With the win the team has won an impressive 4 out 5 tournaments in which it has played in 8 vs 8 competition (U11 age group) with a near miss on the 5^th one where they lost in the Semi’s  to the eventual champions 1-0 on a hard fought battle.

Santa Rosa United Tremors take 1st place at MANTECA ELITE 8 Tournament

               The Santa Rosa United Tremors came into the Elite 8 Soccer Tournament hoping to do well. Little did they know that by the end of the day Sunday they would be champions. The Elite 8 tournament had 8 strong u-11 team that included Elk Grove (last year’s Nor Cal champions) and a strong Manteca Newcastle team.

The Tremors started out the tournament with two wins on Saturday. A 3-0 win over a great Tracy team and also a 4-0 win over a tough North Bay Elite Barcelona team. Sunday’s contests were against Elk Grove which the Tremors won 2-0 and then the championship against a powerful Manteca Newcastle team which the Tremors won 3-2. This is the 4^th out of 5 tournaments that the Tremors have won and the other tournament was a 1-0 loss in the semi’s to that same Manteca Newcastle team. Overall it was a great weekend of soccer and all the girls played with heart and passion. Great job Tremors!!!
