Shock repeated as the President’s Cup Champions. Under the desert sun the girls played teams from AZ, New Mexico, Minnesota, Oregon, Utah, as well as Canada. Playing 6 games over 3 days was a challenge, but the Shock showed their resilience.  Scoring 13 goals and only giving up 1, Shock did a phenomenal job at bringing home a Championship to SRU.  

Meanwhile, at the exact same time the SRU U12 boys, Arsenal, coached by Ralph Montes, dispatched America with a 2-1 win in overtime to clinch #5 Norcal Red State Cup spot.  The boys are currently ranked by #1 in Northern California.

Earlier the SRU U13 girls, Ice team, coached by Justin Selander, recorded an impressive #3 place with a win in the Norcal State Cup U13 Girls Red - State over Ajax United 1-0.

Emiria Salzmann and Fire Captain Mark Dunn were married at 2.30pm at the Church of the Incarnation, on Mendocino Avenue in Santa Rosa, with a hundred plus guests celebrating and witnessing their union.  Emiria and Mark have coached for SRU for many years.  The wedding was attended by many players and parents.  The church service included a wonderful solo singer.  Emiria currently is the Head Girls Coach at Sonoma State University after a successful stint at the SR Junior College.  Mark currently serves with the local fire service as a Captain and coaches soccer.

The wedding reception was a lively affair held in the Union Hotel in Occidental with the father and mother of the bride singing a wonderful love song in tribute to the new couple.  Emiria’s seven brothers and sisters and Mark’s family had a great time celebrating the occasion with the friends and family of the bride and groom.   The dancing went on late into the night.

A well deserved break of an international honeymoon now awaits the newlyweds.

* Marcus Zeimer, now coaches the U17 boys team.  The 2011 season will mark Marcus Ziemer’s 21st as head coach of the men’s soccer team at Sonoma State University.

* Trisha Zeimer, coaches the U14 and U15 girls teams.

* Josh Sterling, appointed as General Manager of SRU for the 2012 season.

We have seen a tremendous increase in player numbers over the last three years with record numbers of new players in our Academy for both boys and girls.  SRU is needing additional coaches to add to our coaching roster for 2012.

Congratulations to Team Thunder for winning the NorCal Girls U9 State Cup Championship and finishing the year with an amazing 45-1-1 record in U9 competition

1. Acquire the basic knowledge of body coordination needed to play the position of Goalkeeper through a repetition of technical skills advancing from basic movements of Goalkeepers to more advanced techniques needed to compete at a higher level.
